Committee members should be required to take the oath before these hearings so that anything they say, like Schmitt’s text bullshit, can be held against them. Had Smith held that poster up as a “fact”, he would have perjured himself for false testimony. Senators should be held to the same standard.

Could t agree more but considering impeachment without conviction seems meaningless, we need the Senate numbers to go all the way.

Well, once we get to the point where any policy decision affects basically everyone's access, I think the conversation changes. But you are right that no system can guarantee everything. You still have to put the right people in charge.
