Show PostSection 6157 of that chapter, though, defines “Lawyer” as a person admitted to the practice of law. There’s no corresponding section defining “attorney.” (because there doesn’t have to be, because they mean the same thing) codes.findlaw.com/ca/business-...
Show PostWe start here, with the California Business and Professions Code chapter that regulates attorneys. (Like, it’s called “Attorneys” in the law.) there is no corresponding section called “Lawyers.”
Show PostOkay. Quick caution: because this is such a bedrock principle, you don’t find a lot of statutes that say “these two words mean the same thing.” There’s almost always some interpretation, you have to read things together. I’ll start with California, bc that’s where Zacharia lives.
Show PostThat’s the answer. I can give you the law that says it if you want it, but you said you didn’t want it.
