Yeah, and there's a very basic reason why genAI can't code for beans. When you're coding, code itself is a liability. You want as little of it as possible so it's easy to revise and maintain. GenAI cannot grasp that concept, so it only produces obtuse black boxes where you can't fix the bugs.

Even worse is when people talk about AI being able to code, and what they describe is actually relying on the AI for making engineering and architectural decisions. Can it generate correct syntax for you? Yeah, probably. Will it use appropriate abstractions and optimizations? Almost certainly not.
