My last two pairs of HFS2 running shoes by Xero Shoes have been at about 50% tread wear after 1,000 miles. Wear on the uppers appears to be the limiting factor unless you don't care about looks at all. I reckon 2,000 miles is where they would be mostly smooth but still wearable.
