I also suspect that - as per Weatherby's argument - the final collapse of mathematics into literature (in the form of the LLM) may make it more urgent that the capacity to mess around may make it more urgent that messing around is rediscovered, not just for romantic reasons, but practical ones

yes, that sounds absolutely right to me. I'm not an education studies scholar or pedagogical expert, but I find it strange and sad that there isn't time at school in which children just get to mess around with symbols and signs, without fear of judgement as to what might happen.

yup - it's basically the self-centered sociopathy of the billionaire class, of having a dedicated yes-man 24/7, except without having to even pay a guy for it! So no wonder it drives people a bit crazy, because that level of sycophancy is kinda mind-warping
