Yes, and at these specific values, there are surely situations where having a guaranteed 50k is much better than a 50% shot at 1M. To be facetious: If my account is drained, and I need to get the Mafia 50k by tomorrow, the 50k is the obviously better choice. There are situations where risk matters

For anyone making under $25/hr (such as myself and like 40% of the us workforce) $50k is a year's wages or more. That is quite significant and I dont think its irrational to take a guarantee like that over a 50/50 shot at more
