My gpa was a gambling addict. They lived in poverty bc of it and most of my mom and her sisters’ early memories are this. Waiting in the car while he got drunk watching a fight. Sitting at the track all day. I feel like we’ve forgotten how insidious an addiction it is.

I'm not a Puritan. Allow folks their vices. But some vices need to be heavily regulated. There are good reasons society decided they were vices in the first place. Gambling is at the very top of the list.

I feel a lot of sympathy for people who've suffered of gambling as an alcoholic. There's nothing you can say to convince me that the prohibitioners were not absolutely correct and that alcohol should be abolished. It's not possible.... Which makes it so hard to stand by and watch it continue

Yeah, the prior gambling regulatory environment was obviously Superior. That we had more or less isolated it to one physical location you had to go to I think was kind of the best of both worlds. But conservatives being conservatives are reckless dramatic and overreaching
