Despite the heavy rain, yesterday's Peterborough moth trap contained a nice mix of migrant and autumn species, including our first ever Ni Moth (been waiting for that one!), our second Vestal, the first Brindled Green of the season and a Large Wainscot living up to its name. #teammoth #mothsmatter

Three of the fourteen Feathered Ranunculus to light last night in the Cot Valley, Cornwall. Present in low numbers every night this week. Fewer migrant moths than last few nights and the only Convolvulus Hawk-moth was a re-trap of one that flew off before I could relocate it yesterday. #TeamMoth

Small (7mm) but perfectly formed, the Small Marbled, an immigrant moth it will breed in the UK in a hot summer #MothsMatter

After a quiet-ish few nights for migrant moths there was a big improvement last night in numbers at the Obs gdn moth-traps + a Slender Burnished Brass to the ORI lure donated to us by @alanlewiswildlife.bsky.social. Our first ever October Little Grass-moth P cerussella was an out of season oddball

Some great migrant moths from our 2 weeks on Scillies - Scar Bank Gem, Golden Twin-spot, Slender Burnished Brass, Southern Brindled Green and Silver-striped Hawk-moth were some of the macros.
