Cute little mushies growing up a dead twig. That is until you realise they are Hymenoscyphus fraxineus, Ash Dieback. The fungus destroying our Ash trees. Particularly abundant on old leaf stalks in a wood today. 😟. #fungi.

Day 2 on Scilly started with a Lapland Bunting & flocks of winter thrushes over the Garrison, was followed by walkaway views of Red-eyed Vireo (& 1+ YB Warblers) on St Agnes, & ended with the Wilson's Snipe & 4 Jack Snipe happily feeding a few feet in front the HQ Hide at Lower Moors. Just ace.

It was feeling very Wogany out there tonight but was saved by this Figure of 8 which was the first ( and only) moth in (so far!) I have never noticed the fluffy end to its abdomen before! #teammoth

82 moths of 18 species last night, with most lunar underwings and feathered ranunculus but a slightly battered Dusky-yellow Sallow and a Blair’s Shoulder-knot were a welcome surprise. #teammoth #mothsmatter
