He can still be a legitimate threat. But I'd actually play him far more understated. Heck, have Korra meet him more than once in circumstances where they can't fight. Force them to talk. And let his words work on her. The whole theme of season 1 is Korra, as a warrior, learning to be a diplomat.

than legitimate socio-political grievance. So the easy change there is that Amon isn't lying when he says a spirit gave him his ability to take away bending. Make him a chi-blocker who is legitimately upset at the way the Republic City council favors benders. Make him a community leader.

You know what? F it. I've got time tonight. Let's talk about how I'd tweak LOK if I knew we were getting 4 seasons from jump. Because honestly, the biggest changes I'd make happen pretty early and just have knock on effects down the line.
