Checked up on some tiny aphids I spotted on Silver Birch a few days ago - they have grown and are definitely Monaphis antennata. Also found some aphids on local Hornbeams - Myzocallis carpini. Both new species for me. @norwichbirder.bsky.social

Just thinking about the Amyciaea crab spider. I don't generally think of spiders as evil, but this thing is an empathy predator. It lurks alongside weaver ant colonies, pretending to be an injured ant, and when gullible ants go to help out what they think is their sister, they get eaten.
