Ghost hunting as a blue collar job is a great idea that actually could have led to endless sequels with different teams easily (Venkman is even joking about franchises!), so kinda wild it went all odd.

Though to be clear, I think JMS could quite legitimately be annoyed at DS9 copying his homework in the later years. But equally, one of the most overt steals Trek did (grabbing B5's effects people) was only possible because they were all unemployed after JMS sacked them between seasons.
