Like I think Midsommar has so much extra texture if you like the wicker man, hereditary with rosemarys baby, house of the devil with black Christmas or phantasm imo !! Also X is just like a feast of slasher tropes while also being a fun commentary on sex in slashers and it’s so so so fun

Also I do think that his movies (and Ari asters) use so much homage and so much horror genre language that really scream out to me as love letters to horror films and they’re still pretty accessible if you don’t know horror genre very well But they become extra indulgent rich texts if you do 😍

I think the original conjuring has some absolutely egregious moments of cheesy cringe but in general is pretty solid, really atmospheric and cozy and really scary 😍 in general I’m not a big fan of his movies though. The conjuring just has really immaculate atmosphere and great design all around.
