I really wanted Rey to go have to talk with a force user from outside the dichotomy as one of the plot beats. Actually exploring the philosophies around the force would have been very neat... instead we got rewarmed power/importance is from legacy.

Not only is that enormously unhealthy, but it sure sounds like a good way to get someone to snap all the way over to the other extreme. You master diddly by going to war with yourself. You need SOME selfish! If you start shooting lightning from your fingers at people for fun, maybe too far.

Does Star Wars actually present the concept of a balanced Force? Balance pretty much seems to be represented by throwing the dark side in the trash, but that’s not balance. I saw a clip in which Lucas said light is selfless and dark is selfish, and either extreme is bad, really.

Antelocaprid, meaning “goat antelope”, more or less. Not to be confused with caprinae, which are also called goat antelopes, or the Tibetan antelope that’s also sometimes called a goat antelope. It would have been nice if the first biologists to study these had larger reference pools 😐

pronghorns are so cool. they're not antelopes or goats, they're the last surviving antilocaprids. their closest living relatives are giraffes and okapis. they can sprint at 55 mph, which is weird, because there are no living predators in North America that can run anywhere near that fast.
