I have dabbled in politics and the hardest thing to do is to get the archetype that has been dubbed "Evelyn Normielib" engaged. Outside of a crisis people just can't be bothered to sit in small rooms listening. It's sad it takes a crisis to get there but hopefully the lesson sticks for a while.

The voters early recognized the importance of the 2026 election cycle and were in and involved and invested in fielding the strongest possible candidates. They didn't play it safe, they chose smart and quick witted people who got that politics ain't beanbag.

The establishment came out against AES. Outside groups for his primary challenger outspent him 9-1. But the people picked him and I think it's safe to say, picked the stronger candidate despite Hayley Stevens being a sitting congresswoman. This is what is important here.

This brings me to my bigger point. Full disclosure, I'm just an observer of US politics but as much as any citizen of this planet is just an observer. I want the US to change its current course and return to being as close to a nation of laws and principles as a hegemon can be.
