This is wonderful! How on earth did they believe these ideas? It would have been so easy to disprove them but perhaps no one was willing to smear the blood of a white hen on their freckles and see what happened?

The Suffolk Archives do some really good exhibitions and events, and this one in particular looks great! East Anglia has such a rich and horrible history of witchcraft and witch trials...

To get to @suffolkarchives.bsky.social or @sfhs1975.bsky.social from Essex, Park and ride bus from copdock is best.They run every 20 mins.The stop you need in town is "Adj. Fore Street" in Grimwade St. a short walk down the road to Fore Street, turn left and the Hold is 100 yds on your left.
