Or the time my stepdad tried to go hydroponic tomatoes in what used to be a tropical fishtank. They refused to grow, so he kept adding plant food. Finally he threw the tank into the backyard. Result: tasteless, grapefruit-sized tomatoes as dense as dodgeballs. We couldn't even give them away.

"High impact" is code for "stuff you post on Instagram for likes" My "core memories" of my parents consist mainly of everyday stuff. Going to the movies, McDonald's, or the neighborhood truckstop diner (which had a jukebox full of country). Playing Mad Libs. Telling corny jokes.

A Milkweed bug is checking out blooms on a milkweed plant. This plant usually has Milkweed bugs on it during the summer but I have not seen Monarch butterflies on it.

Supervisors at The Park this morning during volunteer gig. They were checking the Desert milkweed and let me know they could use some water. Those antennae, one pair orange like the wins, the other black like the bodies. #invertes Tarantula hawk wasp
