I disagree here. Clooney was chasing Paul Newman. He played dumb for the Coens (and once for Payne), but the buffoonery was generally director specific. A while back, Evans told me he was following Costner's career. He wanted to direct and do DANCES WITH WOLVES stuff. I think he's a reluctant clown.
