This is the only way to function without intellectual paralysis. You cannot encounter every new phenomenon within a category of them as a singular event in a vacuum. You place it within your existing framework and see if anything there challenges it. A jumping Tesla does not.

Experience doesn’t lead you to be open-minded nor close-minded. You amass knowledge and intuition about sources and subjects. A car doing aerial stunts with gas thrusters is awesome if it’s a carnival daredevil. It’s absurd from a manufacturer. From a man like Musk, it screams “con job”.

Would this be cool from another more credible person or manufacturer? Maybe, but also it’s difficult to imagine any of them doing this because it’s an obvious waste of time for the sake of novelty. It fits the Musk pattern: his target audience is contemptible rubes that can be dazzled by tricks.
