The thing is, the mega-companies go into SDCC and the like not expecting to make a dime; it's ALL about the publicity, for them. Blowing five figures on primo booth space is advertising, not a cost to be recouped. But the majority of comics publishers don't have that luxury.

At the end of the day, I make weird fun comics I'm proud to publish, but our quirky li'l funhouse can't compete with LEGO Star Wars or HBO or custom photo ops where Jason Momoa pretends to steal your GF from you. And we're mostly expected to pay the same table rates as those orgs. Can't do it.
