Children are things in the Old Testament, possessions like sheep or goats. My favorite is the Book of Job. God kills his entire family to “test” him, but it’s totally okay, ‘cuz after he passes the test with flying colors, God gives him even more children to replace the ones he lost!

I completely understand this pain. Had a severely herniated disc pressing on my sciatic nerve for 2 years before they finally listened to me. Needed surgery by then. The nerve still acts up now and then, and is always in some level of pain, though it’s usually only a small amount comparatively.
