The funny thing about this paper is years ago I got an ancient Yersinia genomes paper to review and was very negative that the analysis was limited and conclusions overblown as was all mapping to a reference and was missing huge amounts of info. Feel vindicated.

There is a good study by Lorenzo Giacani pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39067061/ showing that long term sub-therapeutic exposure with in-vitro culture model didn't lead to resistance. Its will be challenging to monitor given that we will be reliant on technically difficult genomic approaches to do this.
