Twitch does not make a profit. I know "but Amazon" is always the response to things like this, but the platform is unprofitable & always has been. Not paying a ton to host dead content (and no, Twitch does not get free hosting from AWS!) is in the best interest of the service long term.
Show PostHighlights were never intended to be a way to archive terabytes of VODs. At best, their intention was to highlight important VODs (ie event streams) and moments too long for the clip feature. Twitch's worst decision was letting it fester for this long tbqh.
