It took me a long time to train myself to think of rewriting as fine-tuning, as remodeling. Rewriting felt like “destroying” what I had written with such effort, so I resisted it. The only way for me to move forward, was to recognize that these are simply different kinds of writing.

I just watched my friend Brad belting out “I’m a Homosexual!” in Schmigadoon! on Saturday. Then yesterday the show won a mess o’ Tonys, reminding us that it’s only a loud minority that’s trying to put that genie back in the closet.
