I once witnessed the sad spectacle of a *female* politician (trained as a doctor so she would have had exposure to some basic concepts of physics, and chemistry, and batteries) spouting the party line of sun not always shining etc. Doubly sad because she did accept climate change.

We installed something like 5x Canada's peak electricity consumption in PV last year globally. In one year! The idea that millions of people around the world, running millions of multi-million projects hadn't picked up on the setting sun is insulting and idiotic.

I am scathing at this stage with comments like that although as a man I am less subject to the condescension. The question, as you wrote it is completely legitimate (and fun!) but the commentary needs to be ruthlessly mocked.

I am with you. I had an experience earlier this year with a public lecture where the men were impossible. All came late to the talk, all had only comments or questions I had already answered in the talk. They waste our time and have no respect. I gave short responses but moved on to the women.
