Take a bow… It’s the back cover of the Nintendo Newsletter Special Issue from 1990. #Nintendo #NES #SuperMarioBros #RetroGaming ☀️🌴
Show PostAkinori Nishiyama / 西山彰則 is credited with numerous roles in Phantasy Star IV, but he recently mentioned that he designed the game’s title screen (the logo is pretty much the same as that of Phantasy Star I, designed by Rieko Kodama) as well as the planets seen in the opening. x.com/Locky_hca/st...
Show PostNote that this opening illustration is one of the very first illustrations created for the game – it was already used in the June 1992 rolling demo that showcased the game for the first time. Nishiyama had also drawn the Phantasy Star III illustration for that demo.
Show PostBy the way, it was Rieko Kodama who drew the Phantasy Star I illustration for the rolling demo, whilst Toru Yoshida drew the one for PSII (and presumably the characters from PSIV seen in this demo). You can read more about the game’s development here: vgdensetsu.net/riekokodama12/
