I will go to my grave insisting that the mechanics of FF2 actually work great if you take them at face value and just play it rather than trying to game the system by punching yourself in the face and so on. You'll get HP just playing normally. I promise.

I started playing Final Fantasy II again and I know that people talking about the game mechanics has been done to death... The first RPG mechanic everyone does once they decide that they'll fix RPGs is abilities only improve when you use them. And then they find out why that mechanic is a bad idea.
