I loved linguistics at uni but to major in it I needed phonetics and that was way too much like algebra to me so I ultimately wasn't able to technically graduate with a double major as planned. Just dropped thag paper. Even historical linguistics relied on maths skills.

Yes that's a good question. I hated them. They made no sense at all. When I say that language skills helped me, definitely not in that way. I mean, I was able to spell asymptote kind of way. Could do basic algebra but not convert word problems to an equation.

Doesn't autism affect everything lol When you're Autistic you're good at some things, not at others. Where your profile is very spiky, any deficits are "laziness" or "lack of confidence" which it's your responsibility alone to overcome. #AutChat

I'll answer the inverse question. Language skills and good memory are what helped me skate by in maths and overshadowed the fact I was literally still counting on my fingers in senior high school. We weren't allowed to use a calculator but I did anyway wherever possible. #AutChat
