Perhaps W33* is a modestly hypomorphic Ipl1 allele that accelerates mitotic progression? Less Ipl1 at kinetochores could in principle accelerate mitosis. Could see if the W33* cells are sensitive to low-dose benomyl/nocodazole.

But having clear difference between synonymous and non synonymous already argues against their conclusion (they say they were the same). But the key idea really is that there are many of both that have no effect not that any mutation has a tiny effect

Can’t wait to dig into this- and very much would like to look at the negative results for synonymous mutants (they rarely have effect in this assay, consistent with baseline expectation)
