Not sure when *I* realized it, but I clearly remember the moment when I knew other people realized it. I was 10-12 years old, walking with buddies, & saw a line of ants crossing the sidewalk. I squatted down to watch them. My buddies waited a moment, then left. I wasn't aware they'd left.
