I was off Shetland for a couple of days when the Chestnut Bunting appeared but thankfully it hung around for me to enjoy its subtle beauty yesterday afternoon. Today, in somewhat testing conditions, this pod of 6 Orca put on a monochromatically magnificent display just 5 minutes from home.

Another day, another new aphid species. These were egg-laying on pine needles &, from their markings, they look to be Cinara brauni, an invasive species likely brought in on imported Corsican pine. Few official records but Influential Points website says common in southern Britain.
