Show PostSome nice seawatching off the Norfolk coast today. My 4-hour stint at Winterton produced Leach's Petrel as the best bird, with Sooty and Manx Shearwater, 2 Bonxies, 2 Arctic Skuas, plus lots of waterfowl all heading north. Some lovely mixed flocks like this one shown had Wigeon, Teal, and Pintail.
Show PostRed-flanked Bluetail, in my patch, Halligarth next door, yesterday. Though very likely to be the Burrafirth bird from earlier in wk, was a glorious, pulse-raising moment to focus my #swarovskioptik #NLPures on those iconic flank blushes. Far from the mythical mega it once was, still top drawer Sibe.
Show PostAnother awesome arrival of birds today with a Woodlark, 105 Skylark, 269 Starling, 19 Song Thrush, two Mistle Thrush, 83 Redwing, 11 Blackbird, three Rock Pipit, a superb 3474 Chaffinch, 110 Brambling, three Lesser Redpoll, two Mealy Redpoll, 43 Siskin and 45 Reed Bunting. #kentbirding
Show PostAfter a brilliant brief Otter encounter at Glandford we wandered home & both noticed a mass of hops nearby. Amazing, for all the years walking past the same spot & never seeing them until now. May even be the 1st time we've seen hops local to Cley. @linnetincley.bsky.social @norfolknats.bsky.social
