As students learn to lead into in-text direct citations, I’ve been referring to the Kool-Aid Man crashing through a wall: not introducing a quote is jarring, as if the Kool-Aid Man is bursting through your writing shouting “Oh yeah!!!!!” #ITeachELA #writing #EduSky

If you’d like to balance that those thoughts out, I recommend “The Light Eaters” by Zoe Schlanger. Specifically on page 27 I think or 127? There is a paragraph about plants communication and how that builds community… it’s stunning in its beauty. Ill see if I can find it and share
