Some excellent goose passage today with 345 Euro White-fronts and 5 Tundra Beans + plenty of ducks moving offshore. Birds arriving included 167 Lapwing, 3 Woodcock, a Jack Snipe, 5 Snipe, 60 Skylark and 461 Starling. Offshore there was 439 Little Gull west and 4 Sooty Shearwater east. #kentbirding

The most startling example I can find of Batesian mimicry involves Danaid Eggfly, a completely palatable (if you're a bird) butterfly that's evolved to look uncannily like the toxic, foul-tasting, and unrelated Plain Tiger. The former trades heavily on the latter's reputation...

Dungeness, Kent Day 2 A most enjoyable ‘proper’ obs day, a murky morning blessed with an easterly wind. Birds were dropping in with modest numbers of thrushes, (inc 6 Ring Ouzel), 4 Woodcock and a Jack Snipe. We joined in with the incoming geese - 5 Tundra Bean (thanks Jacob) and 345 White-fronted.

Dungeness: A damp dreary day produced some excellent birding. Seehttps://www.trektellen.nl/count/view/2389/20261020 for sea watch numbers 380 Little Gulls the highlight. 5 Tundra Bean Geese were a surprise (very poor image), a smattering of Thrushes, Goldcrests , Chiffchaffs and Black Redstarts.
