like it's sad in a way i can't fully articulate, in part because it is a tragedy that is novel to modernity. the story doesn't end because the only bard to remember it is killed; the story ends because the law rips out his tongue.

these companies go under and lifetimes of work get put in locked boxes and thrown into the trash and if you mention it or try to put it on your resume or keep working on it, they go to fuckin work on you.

like the tragedy of this isn't just that hundreds of people are out of a job and it isn't just that the work they were making will no longer see the light of day. all of that work that they MADE now goes nowhere. it goes in a locked box and EA throws it in the trash.

also like. bioware is 31 years old and 31 years of documentation, work, writing, code, stories, information-- it all goes in a big, locked box and EA throws it in the trash and it's illegal for anyone else to ever look at or even mention it again :)
