Beyond me though, the patriarchy can't work without recruiting privileged cis women into it — and therein lies cis women's greatest power in favour of us. For cis women to strongly, clearly say they don't see us as a threat and that they don't want conservative men to hurt us.

Personally, I am lucky to have a very healthy friend circle and I will keep reaching out to everyone. Outside my family, I've never encountered someone whose heart I couldn't build some bridge to — and I owe it to all of us to keep that up.

It is not good that trans women are disconnected from non-trans womanhood. It's also true that some cis women have been very mean to us and left many too scared to reach out. I love our little niche culture, but the best future we can have needs cis women to treat transphobia as an ugly prejudice.
