We assume too much about what constitutes tactical and operational success relative to what detracts from it, and assume far too often that we meet that standard as a matter of course. We also too often pretend that our mistakes don’t count against our record in this regard.

We haven’t won decisively because we assume that tactical military successes will naturally compound to generate strategic success But that assumption is not unique to this administration, it’s a pervasive & bipartisan pathology across the US NatSec enterprise 😑
