I very much agree with this, but one thing it passes over is the extent to which the Left adopts Third World ethno-nationalisms under the auspices of anticolonialism. Arab and Palestinian nationalism is deeply intertwined with antisemitism and an uncritical adoption will make you antisemitic.
Show PostYou can only appeal to the Left to introspect if you convince them that the problem is external, and this is exactly why more noise is made about "punching left"
Show PostOne big generational difference between Millennials and Gen-Z that doesn't get much play: we remember America's urban death. Zoomers have never used the phrase "inner city" to describe cities as hellscapes where no human being can survive, let alone where cool young white people would ever move to.
Show PostLiterally, yes. Citizen’s time is finite, there’s nothing inherently representative about the people that show up to the meeting, and delay has real and tangible costs in terms of what gets built. A project millions will benefit from being held up by some random cranks is not meaningfully democratic
Show PostMy ideal outcome is morphological explosion. Yes, synthetic humans of course, but also cognitive cyborgs, intelligent infrastructure, and in general a blurring of the line between artificial and natural. Nick Land wants humanity subsumed by AI; I want humanity expanded by AI.
