Can you explain what is meant by “making the overshoot” as short as possible? Since carbon dioxide persists for hundreds or thousands of years, I’m trying to understand if “we” in this sentence is our great-great-great grandchildren or it presupposes carbon capture. Or maybe I just don’t get it!

The @nsidc.bsky.social sea ice pages don't seem to have been updated since 17th October. Wondering if this is a funding crisis, political interference or fall out from the current internet vulnerability panic. Can anyone shed light on this?
