GM just announced the biggest stock buyback in automotive industry history. Instead of investing in their workers or new product lines, GM executives are robbing from the future to pay themselves and their shareholders today. Stock buybacks should be illegal.

Not having the ability to study and plan for climate in one unified place in any government today whether local, state, or national, is a major detriment to climate adaptation today. In the US climate/environment departments at the city level have little to no statutory and/or spending authority.

A friend of mine in the French government (back when it had a dedicated climate department) recognized that the redistributive demands of the yellow vest protesters was correct and necessary to smooth out the unpleasantness of the mid-transition and build political goodwill for climate adaptation.
