if you believe strongly enough that the org is on the wrong path, you can join it and find likeminded people to push it in one direction or another. it might burn you out (I lasted 6 or so years) but the ship is steerable, you just have to convince people.

lots of “DSA should do X” takes are telling on themselves that they haven’t been to more than one or two DSA meetings or participated in the org’s decision making. it’s frustrating sometimes but it’s the most democratic org I’ve ever been a part of, and there are clear and well thought out arguments
