I was lucky to catch River while they were visiting down south as they usually live in Scotland doing their PhD, but if you're looking for a photographer in that part of the world you couldn't do better.

River was a dream to work with - I didn't think I could actually enjoy having my photograph taken alone, but they were so encouraging and genuinely funny and good company that I could almost forget about the camera.

Owing to having a book coming out soon and not having any decent headshots, I did a photo session with @riverstewart.bsky.social at the weekend and I am very much looking forward to seeing the results. From the previews, my dog stole the show - of course.

So many people buried their heads in the sand this week saying that NHS segregation of trans people was "for their safety". But even internal NHS assessments say it will cause direct harm. Sex is not binary and trans people need respectful care based on actual physiology, not anti-trans slogans.
