which is not to say I didn't enjoy my program or that I think it's always a bad idea to do a phd but it really makes me furious when people ascribe getting a doctorate as putting you in a higher, wiser, enlightened class of citizen. that's not what it's measuring

a PhD is a measure of your 1) executive function 2) ability to stave off burnout for years on end 3) willingness to live on no money in a kind of protracted adolescence, and 4) foresight / luck in picking a supervisor who cares if you live or die. and secondarily how good you are at research

PS. If you want to remaster my songs or listen to them at half speed or generate squishy sounding AI versions of it to listen to in your own home, that's fine. If that's what's required to bring someone maximum joy from something I made, that's pretty weird, but I don't want to prevent it. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I understand why I don't understand the DLSS 5 drama now. If I release something, I'm relinquishing all control over how people may choose to consume it. I've always consciously made that consideration when deciding what to release, when to release it, and how I'll be compensated for doing so.
