Very lukewarm take: AI cant do research. Research is a human endeavor. It is political. The questions asked, the biases employed, the views taken. AI has none of that. It cant make a fresh argument. It cant design and execute experiments. It cant iterate on tangible data.

(Context: every year management have to come up with a new justification for shutting the campus slightly early in December and saving on the heating bill. This year I had "our Founder's 300th birthday" in the sweepstake, and I'm quite annoyed it didn't come up.)
