The bit at the end here with the Green Party rep is a really glaring example of how tiresome, enervating and time-wasting Britain’s treatment of Israel/Palestine as an issue is.
Show PostI have used this formulation myself and I don't think it's a "smartass response". From me, at least, it's an attempt to highlight the fact that this state's right to exist is evidently taken by many to supersede the rights (and indeed lives) of Palestinians
Show PostThere is an argument to be made adjacent to all of this that the 'is Zionism a form of racism?' question can be a distraction from the more narrow question of whether or not Israel is a racist state. I think obviously Zionism is racism, but the latter is just indisputable.
Show PostI (sincerely) think this is one of the bigger gaps that exists almost entirely due to lingual context. In English the relatively banal invocation of 'right to exist' without any qualification sounds like a modest ask. In Hebrew and Arabic, in actually existing Israel, this is uh, not what is asked.
