Stuff like this is why the Canadian political establishment is (correctly, IMO) assuming that Democrats can NOT be trusted to return the bilateral relationship to the status quo ante going forward.

I now see this comparison was made with the Danforth lanes in the east end, which are also outside of the core (almost as far, in the other direction), but the point is still about connectivity and bike share density.

The new section of bike lane at the edge of the network doesn’t currently get as much use as the core of the network with better connections and bike share availability. No surprise to cyclists, but to (some) drivers it’s evidence that “no one uses bike lanes”.

The connecting network of protected lanes is also basically non-existent. My ride on Bloor today felt lovely and safe...and then I turned onto Islington and thought, "damn, is this a highway??" and briefly considered riding on the sidewalk instead.

BikeShare's growth is a big contributor to why downtown bike lanes are so busy. I use it often because there are three stations within a 5 min walk of my place. If I had to walk 20 mins to get to a bike station on Bloor? Might as well just take the subway (or drive) instead.
