very bad idea! I've worked adjacent to the wedding industry, and they are expensive because the pressure is high to make things right for a one day event. It takes careful planning by vendors that the couples will never see or understand and this photographer is doing an excellent job of explaining

That “trick” has limited value. There’s saving by buying “shoes” vs “wedding shoes”, buying a “tiered cake” vs “wedding cake”, “champagne flutes” vs “wedding flutes” or booking “formal updo” vs “wedding updo”. Then there’s not telling your wedding photographer it’s a damn wedding! 🤦‍♀️

Pro tip: most bridesmaids dresses can come in white or cream. And some are super fancy and really do look like wedding dresses. Mine was $350 including $100 in alterations (I have a weird body shape and chose to size way up & then alter down rather than diet.)

Yup. Vendors prep differently for different events, have different costs, staffing, time windows, etc. And yeah, it's a breach of contract and congrats, you just lost a trusted vendor for the wedding.
