I think the calculus of the Ohio ad is that they believe it’s good for them if voters are reminded Acton was an abuse victim. In their sociopathic hierarchy of power, abuse victims are inherently inferiors and unworthy.

I think there is a lesson to the fact that the most pro-Israel Democratic president in history ignored his base and a significant contingent of his own Congressional party, including Nancy Pelosi, and the end result was that Israelis say he wasn’t pro-Israel enough.
