Billionaires are wild. If I added up every fantastical whim I ever wanted for myself in life (and I'm talking castles in Scotland, my own personal tiger sanctuary, paying off the debt of every friend I have etc) it wouldn't even come close to one billion dollars. You shouldn't get to have that.

But also, I keep thinking that the G20, and the subsequent refusal to reckon with it, did the city lasting and deep damage. If I were to choose one turning point that would be it.

As I recall, my own position was not that condos were bad per se, but that it was a mistake to rely too exclusively on that one form of housing model. But saying so was like being the Charlie Brown teacher; people just heard “wah wah wah wah”
