Also: because we were doing English grammar at primary school in the late 70s, we were taught prescriptive not functional grammar. So I find what I use is most often what was said to be correct in early 20th century manuals and texts!

😒 shit English subs don’t help cuz they often entirely change the meaning of a phrase or scene and you’d have no idea unless you know Mandarin too.
